Coach Chris Sellers
Chris Sellers is a physics and chemistry educator at The Whitfield School in St. Louis whose work bridges traditional science education with emerging technologies. Through experiential, project-based learning, his students use ArcGIS, StoryMaps, AI systems, and coding tools to investigate real-world challenges in energy, motion, and environmental systems.
Sellers has partnered with leading corporations—including Mastercard (cybersecurity and data systems), Boeing (aerospace and engineering), Emerson (automation and coding), World Wide Technology (cloud and AI integration), and Clayco (design and construction innovation)—to help students see how physics connects directly to contemporary STEM fields.
Through collaborations with university partners such as Maryville University, Washington University in St. Louis, the University of Missouri–St. Louis, and Iowa State University, he has developed pathways that link high school learning to research, mentorship, and collegiate-level opportunities.
His classroom doubles as a launchpad for national STEM competitions, where students apply these technologies to authentic challenges such as CyberPatriot, FTC Robotics, the GAMA Aviation Design Challenge, the ArcGIS StoryMap Competition, the NEI Video Contest, and EarSketch’s Your Voice Is Power. Through these experiences, students transform scientific understanding into creativity, collaboration, and real-world impact.
