Mr. Steven Johnson
Mr. Johnson is a geographer with 30 years of applied experience with GIS and geospatial information management. He maintains a special focus on OpenStreetMap and open source GIS, promoting uses in education, community development, and citizen engagement. Through TeachOSM, he leads collaboration efforts between the OpenStreetMap project and US Federal agencies, organizes local mapping events, and conducts outreach to educational communities to diversify the OpenStreetMap community. Previously, Mr. Johnson was an early implementer of GIS for municipal administration and contributed to national and international geospatial data standards. Mr. Johnson holds a Masters of Regional Planning from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and a Bachelors of Arts from LenoirRhyne College.
