Dr. Kathryn Verlinden

Dr. Verlinden is an atmospheric scientist with expertise in the marine atmospheric boundary layer, air-sea interactions, cloud microphysics, remotely sensed observations, and forecast verification. Through her research, Dr. Verlinden has created a visibility risk assessment framework for the maritime domain; worked with NOAA’s Aviation Weather Testbed to test the initial capabilities of the Next Generation Global Prediction System (NGGPS) to forecast visibility for aviation applications; created a multi-dimensional conservation value index for the National Parks Conservation Association to help prioritize coastal conservation advocacy efforts; and studied the implications of air-sea interactions for large scale atmospheric and oceanic circulations.
