Dr. Temidayo Oniosun
Temidayo Oniosun is a global thought leader at the intersection of space, geospatial intelligence, and sustainable development. He is the Founder and Managing Director of Space in Africa, the premier source of market intelligence and consulting on Africa’s space and satellite industry. Over the past decade, Temidayo has advised several governments globally on how to leverage Earth observation and geospatial data for sustainable development.
Temidayo holds a Master’s degree in Satellite Applications from the University of Strathclyde, Glasgow and a Ph.D. in Geography with a dissertation on the Political Economy of Space Development in Africa. He is a Research Affiliate at the MIT Media Lab, where he engages in advancing justice in Earth’s complex systems using designs enabled by space. In addition, he serves as a Non-Resident Senior Fellow at the Atlantic Council, contributing to global dialogues on space governance and strategy, and as a Council Member at the World Economic Forum, shaping the future of space and emerging technologies within multilateral platforms.
Temidayo in an inaugural YouthMapper fellow and his contributions to the space sector have earned him recognition as a 2020 Karman Fellow and a 2021 Forbes Africa 30 Under 30 award. Before founding Space in Africa, he served as the African Regional Coordinator for the Space Generation Advisory Council. His expertise is frequently sought by major media outlets such as BBC, CNN, Reuters, CNBC, CGTN, AlJazeera, Forbes Africa, and Voice of America, where he provides insights on African space and satellite programs.
