Ms. Gwendolyn Murphy
Gwen Murphy is a graduate research student in Environment & Resources at the Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies, University of Wisconsin–Madison. Working in Dr. Julie Klinger’s lab, her research examines narrative analysis and knowledge sovereignty in energy transition materiality amid planetary polycrises. She is particularly interested in how processes of knowledge production shape what we see as possible in responding to or preventing further crises. With cross-sector experience across nonprofit, corporate, and research settings, Gwen is methodologically trained in both qualitative and quantitative data collection, analysis, and synthesis. Currently in the exploration phase of her dissertation, she is exploring the intersections of data sovereignty, climate change mitigation, and socioecological inequity within a geographic framework—particularly as they relate to material needs and alternative pathways toward an accessible, affordable global energy transitions.
