Mr. James Mbabazi
James Mbabazi is a Senior Cloud Engineer at Johns Hopkins University. He began his career in Rwanda as the Health Information Systems IT Manager for Partners In Health, and has led the design and implementation of electronic medical record (EMR) systems across Africa, South America and Asia in rural areas with limited infrastructure. The path from frontline health information systems in Rwanda to cloud infrastructure at a major United States research institution, has shaped James's views of what it will take to build resilient, AI-ready health systems across Africa in the decades ahead. He is especially interested in how emerging technologies can strengthen the systems that frontline health workers depend on, and in what it takes to carry a system from pilot to national and international scale.
James holds a Master of Science in Applied Data Analytics from Boston University and a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the Kigali Institute of Science and Technology.
